The Vietnam-China trade via Vietnam 's Lao Cai international border gate is expected to reach 700 million U.S. dollars in 2007 and one billion dollars in 2008.

Main imports and exports include steel ingots fertilizers chemicals, gypsum, seafood, vegetables and fruits, local newspaper Vietnam News reported Thursday.

To foster trade via the gate, Vietnam will organize a Vietnam- China trade fair, the biggest-ever of this kind, in northern Lao Cai province from Nov. 30 to Dec. 5.

The bilateral trade via the border gate has so far this year reached over 500 million dollars, soaring 70 percent against the same period last year.

Trade between Vietnam and China increased to over 9.95 billion U.S. dollars in 2006 from 8.2 billion dollars in 2005, according to the Chinese Commercial Ministry.
