Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan on Monday met Cape Verdian Minister of Council of Ministers, State Reform and Defense Maria Cristina Lopes Almeida Fotes Lima, both vowing to strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two armed forces.
Cao, who is also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, hailed the traditional friendship between the Chinese and Cape Verdian people, the fruitful bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, economics and culture, and the close bilateral cooperation in dealing with international affairs.
Cao noted that China appreciated and was thankful for Cape Verde's firm support to it on issues concerning Taiwan and human rights.
While highlighting the current sound and smooth development of bilateral military ties, Cao said, China is willing to join hands with Cape Verde to further push forward such ties to a new high.
Lima stressed that her country would continue to adhere to the one-China policy.
China has always been an important cooperation partner for Cape Verde, said Lima, adding that Cape Verde is eager to make joint efforts with China in actively promoting the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and the two armed forces so as to achieve a win-win result.
