Leaders of friendly parties in DPRK, Vietnam, Cuba and Laos sent congratulatory messages on Monday to Hu Jintao on his re-election as general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and chairman of the party's Central Military Commission.
Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), said he wished to extend his warm congratulations to Hu on the successful convening of the 17th National Congress of the CPC and Hu's re-election as general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Hu's re-election embodies the trust the CPC, the Chinese army and the Chinese people place on him, Kim said.
Kim expressed full confidence that the traditional friendship between the two countries would be further consolidated and developed through joint efforts of both sides, and wished Hu new successes in carrying out the tasks set out at the 17th congress.
Nong Duc Manh, general-secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, said he is convinced that under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people will continue to make new and greater achievements and attain their goal of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Manh also expressed his firm belief that Hu would make new and still greater contributions to the endeavor of further deepening the traditional friendly cooperation and mutual understanding and trust between the two parties, countries and peoples.
Fidel Castro, first secretary of the Central Committee of Communist Party of Cuba, said in his message that Hu's re-election once again demonstrates approval for his leadership role in the CPC as well as his efforts to safeguard China's national sovereignty and promote the cause of socialism.
Fidel Castro reiterated his country's readiness to further deepen the close friendly relations and cooperation with China.
Raul Castro, second secretary of the Central Committee of Communist Party of Cuba, also sent a congratulatory message, wishing Hu more successes in his future work.
Choummali Sayasone, secretary general of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Lao President, on behalf of the party's central committee and party members and in his own name, offered warm congratulations on Hu's re-election.
He expressed his firm belief that the Chinese people would achieve greater success in the cause of reform and opening-up, building China into a strong and modernized socialist country in the 21st century.
