Overseas Chinese and Chinese-language media around the world have continued to give prominence to the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Hua Junxiong, chairman of the Council for the Promotion of China's Peaceful Reunification in New York, said that the reports of the 17th Congress of the CPC embodied the consistency, stability and creativity of China's policies.
Michael Chu, co-chair of the Council of Chinese-American Associations, spoke highly of the CPC policies of taking a scientific approach to development and constructing a harmonious society.
He summarized the spirit of the CPC congress as China's as peaceful,green and harmonious rise.
Li Cheng, a political professor at Hamilton College in the United States and a senior researcher at the the Brookings Institution, said the successful congress has given a clearer policy orientation for China's future development.
The CPC reports highlighted the concepts of the Scientific Outlook on Development, harmonious society and governance for the people and also put forward specific policies, which is of great significance for China, Li said.
In an article published on the China Press newspaper in the United States, Steven Wong, executive chairman of the Unified Organization of Overseas Chinese Associations of New York, said that the congress has brought the Chinese people new expectations for the country's construction.
He said he believed that China's society will become even more harmonious in the years to come.
Chen Weidong, vice-president of the A.C.T. Council for the Promotion of the Peaceful Reunification of China, said the CPC's statement about China's policies on Taiwan is important for the promotion of cross-Strait relations and the process of China's peaceful reunification
"The 1.3 billion people on the mainland and the 23 million people in Taiwan are of the same blood and share a common destiny," Chen quoted the reports of the congress as saying. He said this sentence has deep implications and gives a clear, definitive description of the status quo of cross-Strait relations.
Ping T. Tan, executive chairman of the National Congress of Chinese Canadians, said the congress set the goal of constructing a moderately prosperous society in all fields, which will guide the Chinese people to realize their dream of "a wealthier and stronger nation."
He said the efforts made by the Chinese government to achieve the goal will benefit the Chinese people as well as the world.
Christine Lee, a Chinese lawyer living in Britain, said the congress report and the formation of a new CPC leadership demonstrates that the CPC cadres pay more attention to knowledge and experience as well as scientific governance.
The ideas on attaching importance to people's lives signal a more democratic and scientific approach, Lee said.
The overseas Chinese association in Rawalpindi in Pakistan said overseas Chinese felt encouraged because the 17th congress put forward the concepts of building a harmonious society and world and putting people first.
The only Chinese newspaper in Pakistan, South Asia Communication, published reports on the CPC congress on its front pages on consecutive days, wishing China a better future.
The overseas Chinese association in Mongolia said in a statement that the congress upholding the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics is a historic event, which serves as a link between the past and future.
The congress sets the goals of pushing ahead scientific development, promoting social harmony and constructing a moderately prosperous society in all fields, the statement said.
The China Press newspaper in the United States said in its editorial that the CPC report frames the principal axis of peace for the relations across the Taiwan Straits, and the strategy on Taiwan displays a historical view with a wide time span.
