Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong was among an audience of over 2,000 people watching the inaugural concert of the Sixth National Golden-Bell Music Contest in Nanjing, the capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, on Friday evening.

At the opening concert, some Erhu masters and young players performed a number of well-known Chinese classics, which aroused loud applause from the audience.

Erhu is a two-stringed Chinese fiddle known for its grave and passionate tone which could easily make listeners deeply touched and tearful.

Friday's inauguration was unveiled jointly by Hu Zhenmin, deputy head of a Chinese artists and musicians association, and Jiangsu Governor Liang Baohua.
