Macao's Court of Final Appeal (CFA) started the trial of former Secretary for Transport and Public Works Ao Man Long here on Monday.
The case with 76 charges boasted the first one to be directly conducted by the CFA , the top court, since Macao's return to the motherland in 1999.
The CFA formed a three-judge panel to hear the case, headed by Sam Hou Fai, president of the CFA.
Sam Monday delivered a 100-page indictment report briefing on the crimes Ao has committed.
Ao was charged for corruption, power abusing, bribes-taking and money laundering by the court, which is opened to the public and media.
The case is slated to last for one month during which the hearings are to be held each Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Ao was detained by Macao's Commission Against Corruption in December 2006 and was transferred to the prosecution in April 2007. Source: Xinhua
