Chinese State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan met in Beijing on Friday with Jean-David Levitte, a diplomatic adviser of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Tang spoke highly of current good momentum and fruitful achievement in China-France relations.
He said both countries shoulder important responsibilities in maintaining world peace and promoting common development.
China is willing to make joint efforts with France to strengthen political trust and strategic and mutually-beneficial cooperation and enhance coordination in international affairs, Tang said.
China attaches great importance to Sarkozy's coming visit and will make good preparation to ensure a success visit and push ahead China-France and China-Europe relations, he said
Levitte said Sarkozy and the French government value relations with China and will do its best to maintain bilateral ties and jointly push for new outcomes in bilateral relations.
He reiterated that France firmly pursues one-China policy and will actively push forward the Europe-China relations to make headway.
The two sides also exchanged views on nuclear issue on Korean Peninsula, Darfur and Myanmar issues.
