The Communist Party of China (CPC) would like to improve party-to-party relations with Iranian National Trust Party to promote long-term and stable relations between the two countries, said a CPC leader on Tuesday.

Jia Qinglin, a member of the Standing Committee of the political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with Secretary-General of the Iranian National Trust Party Mahdi Karroubi.

Jia, also chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said China and Iran had maintained frequent high-level exchanges, and political and economic cooperation had expanded since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1971.

Mahdi Karroubi said Iran valued China's role in the international arena, and hoped to further cooperation with China in the all fields.
