Li Hongzhong was appointed vice and acting governor of central China's Hubei Province Thursday, according to the provincial legislative body.

The provincial legislature also approved the resignation of Luo Qingquan, former Hubei governor.

Li was one of the 167 alternate members of the 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) elected at the 17th CPC National Congress held in Beijing on October 21.
