China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin Friday called for more efforts in conducting research on the work of local political advisory bodies under new situations.
Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks when addressing a three-day meeting on summarizing good experiences of local political advisory bodies.
Jia said political advisory bodies have played well their roles in political consulting, democratic supervising, discussing policies and advising on economic, political, cultural and social construction in the past five years.
"The role of political advisory bodies was seen to be more prominent in Chinese people's political life, as local political advisory bodies innovatively explore ways to carry out their duties," Jia said.
He urged China's political advisory bodies to make research and constantly improve themselves in a bid to move with the times.
