Senior lawmakers from China and Canada ended their two days of regular talks here Friday and agreed to strengthen constructive dialogues in the interest of promoting the sound development of bilateral ties as a whole.
Lu Congmin, chairman of the China-Canada Parliamentary Association, and his Canadian counterparts agreed that a great amount of work has been done in promoting China-Canada relations since the mechanism of holding regular exchanges between the two legislative bodies was set up nine years ago.
Lu, who is vice-chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), and the senior Canadian parliamentarians reached the consensus that efforts should be made to further strengthen the constructive dialogues between the two parliaments and properly handle the differences between the two sides so as to push forward the stable and healthy development of the overall bilateral relationship.
Peter Milliken, speaker of the Canadian House of Commons, said the Canadian parliament values Canada-China relations. He pledged continued support for the work of the two parliamentary associations. Source: Xinhua
