Visiting Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda on Friday condemned the assassination of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, saying that Japan and China were of one mind to resolutely combat terrorist activities. Bhutto was killed on Thursday in Pakistan in a suicide attack.
Nothing could justify terrorist activities, said Fukuda in a speech delivered at Peking University. He extended condolences over the death of the Pakistani opposition leader and other victims.
The fight on terror is a common task the international community faces, including Japan and China, added Fukuda, who expressed hope that cooperation with China in this area would be promoted.
Bhutto, 54, was killed Thursday evening in a suicide bombing attack during an election rally at the Liaquat Bagh Park in Rawalpindi, some 30 kilometers south of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad. The international community was condemning the terrorist act.
