China, Benin celebrate 35th anniversary of restored diplomatic ties

China and Benin held celebrations here Saturday to mark the 35th anniversary of the restoration of their diplomatic relations.

Beninese foreign minister Okanla Moussa spoke highly of the achievements and the existing friendly cooperative relations between the two countries since they resumed diplomatic relations.

China has become an important development partner for Benin, said the foreign minister at the celebration, attended by more than 200 participants including high-ranking Beninese officials.

Moussa reiterated the Beninese government's traditional position of one-China policy and its commitment to support China'scause of peaceful reunification.

Chinese Ambassador Li Beifen said that China and Benin have been enhancing mutual political trust and economic and trade cooperation since the restoration of their diplomatic ties.

At the celebration, Li and Moussa, on behalf of their respective governments, signed an agreement on economic and technological cooperation between the two countries.
