Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan and Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu pledged to strengthen bilateral economic and trade cooperation Thursday when they met here Thursday.
Zeng said China pays great attention to Romania's trade deficit with China, and is willing to take measures to promote a trade balance.
He expressed the hope that both sides will manage to deepen cooperation in education, sports, tourism and labor services.
Zeng said China will further strengthen exchanges of high-level visits between national leaders, governments, parliaments and political parties of the two sides.
He also vowed to seek substantive progress in three major cooperation projects between China and Romania: a nationwide CDMA (Code-Division Multiple Access) communications network in Romania, a bridge on the Danube River and a ring road in Bucharest.
He also encouraged Romanian enterprises to invest in the Chinese market.
He praised Romania's adherence to the one-China policy.
Tariceanu said China is Romania's most important partner in Asia. Promoting relations with China is one of the pillars of Bucharest's Asian policy, he said.
Romania welcomes Chinese investment, he said, adding that his government will offer assistance to Chinese enterprises.
