China hopes Kenya will properly resolve its disputes through dialogue and consultation, Jiang Yu, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, said Friday.

"We sincerely hope all of Kenya's relevant sides would consider the fundamental interests of the people and nation and properly handle the disputes through dialogue to safeguard peace, stability and development," she said.

Turbulence and a humanitarian crisis broke out in Kenya last month after its controversial election.

Jiang said as a friendly nation of Kenya, China has closely watched the situation. China is deeply concerned with the humanitarian crisis there.

She noted China has offered 300,000 U.S. dollars in humanitarian aid and the Chinese Red Cross Society has provided emergency aid to Kenya.
