A colossus bus measuring 18 meters long will hit the streets of Shanghai this April, the Shanghai Pudong bus company said.

The new buses, to run on heavily traveled roads during rush hours, would relieve traffic pressure, the company said on Friday.

The new buses have two carriages with a capacity of 160 people. Normal buses can carry 50 to 80 people. The new buses have three doorways on the right side that are only about 20 centimeters above ground, which should help older passengers.

Fares will be similar to other buses, the company said.
