China News Service reported that China and Singapore signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on March 3 to promote collaborations on interactive digital media (IDM) technology research and development. The MoU marks a new level of cooperation between both countries in this field.
According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, the signing ceremony was held in the Singaporean Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MITA). Chan Yeng Kit, Singapore's Permanent Secretary for Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA), and Cao Jianlin, Vice-Minister from China's Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), represented their respective governments in signing the MoU.
At the ceremony, Cao Jianlin said that the memorandum laid a solid foundation for the two countries' cooperation in the field of interactive digital media (IDM) technology research and development. China and Singapore's cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, science and technology have obtained remarkable achievements. New development opportunities are emerging in their cooperation in the science and technology sector.
Chan Yeng Kit expressed that Singapore has recognized the importance of IDM technology research, development and application. A powerful partner like the Chinese Department of Science and Technology will facilitate Singapore's IDM strength. Chan Yeng Kit believed the MoU will provide more opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation between Singaporean and Chinese IDM enterprises.
