The Chinese edition of the book "100 Hours with Fidel" was released on Friday with a preface written by Fidel Castro, the retired Cuban leader, himself.

The book, under the Chinese title of "My Life -- Interviews with Fidel Castro," was translated by experts at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

In the preface, Castro said he had been correcting and improving the book since July 2006, when he was ill.

"The book reveals many details of Fidel Castro's life and revolutionary thoughts, which were rarely known to the public," said Xu Shicheng, one of the translators and an expert on Cuban issues.

Xu said that the book was of great importance for those who do research on Cuban revolution and Castro's life and thoughts.

The Chinese edition, compared with editions in other languages, has more value, because Fidel Castro underlined in the preface China's important contribution to today's world, said Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernandez, Cuban Ambassador to China.

The book has been re-edited several times by Castro and translated into many languages, including English, French, Japanese and Arabic.
