The tourism industry shows a momentum of rapid growth in the six provinces of Central China in recent years.
The average annual growth of tourism income and the total number of tourists received in the six provinces reached 20 percent, higher than the GDP growth rate and the average growth level of China's tourism industry, according to the information from the 4th Central China Travel Expo (CCTE).
In 2007, the six provinces, Shanxi, Jiangxi, Henan, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan received a total of 599 million domestic and foreign tourists; reported total tourism income of 434.638 billion yuan, up 21.75 percent and 28.88 percent respectively than the previous year. The number of foreign tourists reached 5.5955 million, up 25.82 percent over the previous year.
The tourism departments in the six provinces of the China Central have proposed a concept - to jointly build a China Central tourism cooperation demonstration zone by relying on central China's tourism resources and geographical advantages. For having a good prospect of the tourism industry, foreign fund amounted to 11 billion yuan has been invested into the tour destinations, resorts, hotels and Expo venue construction in the six provinces.
