Indonesian Red Cross offers donation to China's quake-hit area

The Red Cross of Indonesia here Friday donated 10,000 U.S. dollars to the victims of an earthquake which hit Sichuan Province of China on Monday.

Speaking at a hand-over ceremony, Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross Mar'ie Muhammad said he and the Red Cross have been closely concerning about the powerful earthquake in Sichuan which has killed nearly 20,000 people.

He expressed his condolence and sympathy to the victims of the devastating quake and his heartfelt esteem to the Chinese government and people for their quick reaction in the struggle against the accident.

"If China needs, the Indonesian Red Cross is willing to provide assistance it can do," he added.

On behalf of the Chinese Red Cross and the Chinese people, Minister Counselor from the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, Yang Lingzhu, expressed her deep thanks to the Indonesian Red Cross, saying that it showed the profound friendship between the Indonesian people and the Chinese people.
