CPC received "special party fee" of 1.7 billion in quake-relief funds

The Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee received "special Party fee" worth as much as 1.773 billion yuan (about US$253 million) by May 25, Ou Yangsong, vice minister of the Organization Department said at a news conference on May 26, 2008. All the Party fees were contributed voluntarily and used in the quake-relief fund.

Ou said officials at all levels are leaders of quake relief work. Statistics shows that 17,500 officials from vice county mayor upwards, and 2,280,000 Communist Party members, have been participating in the frontline of quake relief work.
