A surplus of 1.8 billion HK dollars (230.87 million U.S. dollars) was recorded in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government's financial results for the first month of the current financial year, Hong Kong Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said on Friday.
The figure brings the HKSAR government's fiscal reserves to 494. 8 billion HK dollars (63.46 billion U.S. dollars).
April saw 20.4 billion HK dollars (2.62 billion U.S. dollars) in spending and 22.2 billion HK dollars (2.85 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue, resulting in a surplus of 1.8 billion HK dollars (230. 87 million U.S. dollars). The surplus was mainly dueto collection of salaries tax, profits tax and stamp duties, the bureau said.
The total government debts stood at 20.08 billion HK dollars (2.58 billion U.S. dollars).
