The Chongqing municipality hopes to enhance cooperation with Germany, said Bo Xilai, the Communist Party chief of China's southwestern Chongqing municipality.

Bo, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said this during a meeting with German Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

He welcomed the German delegation's choice of Chongqing as the second leg of the Campaign known as Germany and China -- Moving Ahead Together.

Steinmeier extended sympathy and condolences for China's earthquake in southwest China's Sichuan province, and thanked Chongqing for its willingness to build a Germany-China Avenue.

Steinmeier also expressed Germany's willingness to help with Chongqing's modernization process and to participate in the specific construction projects, especially advanced industrial andhigh-tech projects.

By introducing German culture, science, economy and lifestyle, the activities of "Germany and China -- Moving Ahead Together" aim to present a modern, creative and future-oriented Germany to audiences across China.
