The Organizing Committee of the Beijing Olympics unveiled on July 14 the rules that spectators are supposed to follow as they watch the games in the venues.

The rules include 12 categories of restricted articles, 10 categories of restricted behaviors and 4 categories of prohibited articles and behaviors.

Security checks will be conducted at the venues. Restricted articles or behaviors will be dealt with according to the Implementation Regulations of the rules which has also been issued by the Organization Committee.

Prohibited articles and behaviors go against China's existing laws and regulations and will be subject to those laws and regulations.

The rules were well-received by spectators when they were tested during the Good Luck Beijing trial games from August 2007 to May 2008, according to the official declaring the rules today.

A campaign was also launched the same day to encourage good conduct among spectators. China Mobile and city volunteers will help promote a"smile commitment" on good conduct. And Smile Wristlets for spectators will be distributed as well.
