Guinea's National Assembly Speaker Aboubacar Sompare, Prime Minister Ahmed Tidiane Souare and 13 cabinet ministers attended China's National Day reception at the Chinese Embassy Wednesday.

On behalf of Guinean President Lansana Conte, Souare congratulated China on the 59th anniversary of Communist Party rule, as well as the great achievements it has made since 1949.

Souare hailed China's successes in hosting the Beijing Olympics, launching the Shenzhou-7 space mission and overcoming the consequences of this year's severe snow storm and earthquake.

The prime minister spoke highly of the traditional friendship between Guinea and China, saying maintaining friendly ties with China is the unwavering policy of the Guinean government.

He told the party of more than 250 guests that both Guinea and China are bracing for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 2009, hoping for further development of bilateral relations.

Chinese Ambassador Huo Zhengde said the past 30 years have proved that China's policy of reform and opening up to the outside world is the only correct road for the country's peaceful development.

The Chinese government and people are determined to conquer all difficulties on the road of the peaceful development, Huo said.

The Chinese ambassador expressed appreciation of Guinea's friendly policy toward China, saying China's peaceful development will bring more and more opportunities for fruitful cooperation between the two countries.
