Tropical storm Higos was moving toward the South China Sea, bringing strong wind, the National Meteorological Center of the China Meteorological Administration forecast on Wednesday.

Higos, the 17th tropical storm this year, formed on Tuesday to the south of the Philippines.

It was located at 14.5 degrees north latitude and 121.2 degrees east longitude at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

It was gaining momentum and moving northwest at up to 20 km per hour at its center and was expected to land in the South China Sea on Wednesday night.
