The State Council has approved the feasibility study report on China's fourth space launch center. The construction will officially begin in the near future in Wenchang, Hainan Province.
According to the information, the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center will be mainly used for launching earth-synchronous orbit satellites, massive polar orbiting satellites, large-tonnage space stations and deep-space detection satellites. It will greatly enhance China's overall capabilities in space launch.
China has now constructed three space launch centers, located in Jiuquan, Taiyuan and Xichang on the mainland. The construction project of the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center is scheduled to be completed by 2012, and be ready for the first rocket launch in 2013.
