On November 9, the mobilization meeting for construction of the railway connecting Nanning and Guangzhou was held in Wuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, marking the start of construction of the railway.
Nanning-Guangzhou railway crosses through Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guangdong Province. It will be 577 kilometers in length with 23 stations. Its design will allow trains to run over 200 km per hour, and will meet the requirements for double deck container railway transportation.
After the Nanning-Guangzhou railway is completed, the prospective transport capacity will be 20 million tons per year and will run 110 return passenger train trips per day. It will take less than three hours to travel from Nanning to Guangzhou. The construction will be completed in four and a half years, and the cost will be shared by the Ministry of Railways, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guangzhou Province. The Nanning-Guangzhou Railway Co., Ltd. is set to supervise the construction.
