The Bank of East Asia (China) launched the China UnionPay (CUP) RMB credit card on December 23, making it the first foreign bank to issue CUP RMB-denominated credit cards in the Chinese mainland. Foreign banks have diversified their operations in China on all fronts.

On December 23, CUP held a ceremony on Bali Island, Indonesia, formally announcing that Indonesian merchants will now accept the CUP card for transactions. From now on, Chinese cardholders can use their CUP cards to make purchases at Indonesian stores.
