Reporters learned from the Ministry of Agriculture that both total grain output and grain yield per unit area in China have surpassed historical record highs this year, with both total grain output and grain yield per unit area in six provinces exceeding record highs, and total grain output in 9 provinces exceeding record highs. It is the first time that grain output in China has recorded five consecutive years of increases in both production and income since China's reform and opening-up. The "consecutive increase for five years" of grain has become the highlight of the economic operation, and has provided a solid foundation for ensuring supply and supporting the stable and fast development of the national economy. In the meantime, the income of farmers has maintained drastic increases for five years in a row. Taking the whole year into account, the income from farmers selling farm produce, farmers' income from salary and transfer income are all still on the upward rise.

Over the past year, agricultural development has also prevailed over various serious natural disasters, and has effectively overcome various adverse factors. It has actively addressed multiple emergencies, and successfully accomplished and actively promoted many major tasks including major animal disease prevention and control, and instilling order in the feed industry and milk depots. And as a result, new progress has been made in the agriculture industry and rural economy.
