According to the Liaoning Provincial Commercial Department, as of December 31, 2008, the number of retail outlets, lawfully certified by above county-level commerce departments in Liaoning Province, to be included in the "home appliances to the countryside" program reached 1,127 stores. The closer and more convenient shopping outlets are provided to the rural residents.
Chen Jian, Director of the Market Operation Division of the Liaoning Provincial Commercial Department pointed out that in a nationwide public tendering organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Finance, 1,133 types of appliance models in four major categories, including color TV sets, refrigerators (including freezers), cell phones and washing machines, manufactured by China's 85 enterprises, won successful bids and are included in the "home appliances to the countryside" program in Liaoning Province. In addition, another more 21 retail enterprises won the bids.
