China invests 20 billion yuan in eco-forestry development in Ningxia

Recently in Beijing the State Forestry Administration signed an agreement with the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region's government. The agreement with a total investment of 20 billion yuan will support Ningxia's eco-forestry development in various ways.

According to the agreement, the State Forestry Administration will support Ningxia in implementing projects under the national program for building comprehensive ecological demonstration zones for sand prevention and control. While 11.3 billion yuan out of the 20 billion yuan total investment will be used to support a plan to harness 7.69 million mu of land stricken by desertification in Ningxia by 2020. In addition, 3.14 billion yuan will be invested in support of the one-million-mu ecological park at the east foot of Helan Mountain, the one-million-mu Yellow River wetlands shelter forest system in the irrigation region, the one-million-mu featured economic forest belt in the irrigation region, the one-million-mu Chinese jujube forest in the middle arid region, the one-million-mu windbreak and sand fixation forest belt in the Maowusu desert, as well as the one-million-mu water conservation forest barrier at Liupan Mountain.
