An urgent need to develop the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics is driving the reform and innovation of cadre-related education and training.

Following the promotion by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, a new model of "self-selection training" is quietly becoming increasingly popular across China. Self-selection training contents, providers, teachers and time to properly harmonize the needs of the organization, posts and cadres themselves have become a useful supplement to organization-sponsored training.

Since 2008, "training" has become a hot word for China's grassroots-level cadres. Various types and levels of training have been comprehensively carried out, such as the training of county-level Party secretaries and county-level public security bureau chiefs, becoming an important part of the political life of cadres at all levels. Meanwhile, the cadre training model is also quietly changing, and new interactive means such as self-selection training courses, study groups and exchange meetings, have been fully implemented in training.

What is the current situation of grassroots-level cadre training? According to a survey, over 70 percent of cadres have participated in training in the past six months, indicating that considerable efforts are being made to intensify cadre training. Of the 70 percent, 12.5 percent are currently participating in training, 35 percent have participated in various types of training in the past three months, and a further 25 percent have participated in training in the past six months. Only 27.5 percent of cadres had not participated in any training in the past six months.
