Leaders of countries or political parties have sent messages to Hu Jintao congratulating him on his reelection as general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf extended his felicitations on the successful holding of the CPC Congress.

"I would also like to warmly congratulate Your Excellency and the newly-elected leadership of the Communist Party of China and wish you all and the friendly people of China every success in the years ahead," he said.

Sam Nujoma, president of Namibia's SWAPO Party, extended congratulations on Hu's reelection as the CPC general secretary, saying: "Your reelection is a clear demonstration of the Communist Party of China and the entire Chinese people's confidence in your able and successful leadership."

Nujoma said that under Hu's leadership, the Chinese government has adopted and implemented a series of excellent and robust policies, and he is confident that the strong bonds of solidarity between SWAPO and the CPC and the two countries will continue to be strengthened and consolidated.

Marie-George Buffet, national secretary of the Communist Party of France, congratulated Hu on his reelection, and wished the Chinese people and Hu great successes in future.

Jose Renato Rabelo, chairman of the Brazilian Communist Party, and Jose Carvalho, secretary of international relations, offered congratulations on Hu's reelection as Party chief and on the elections of the new CPC Central Committee, the Political Bureau and the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC.

Kim Jong-il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), said he wishes to extend his warm congratulations to Hu on the successful convening of the 17th National Congress of the CPC and Hu's reelection.

Hu's reelection embodies the trust the CPC, the Chinese army and the Chinese people place on him, Kim said.

Kim expressed full confidence that the traditional friendship between the two countries would be further consolidated and developed through joint efforts of both sides, and wished Hu new successes in carrying out the tasks set out at the 17th congress.

Nong Duc Manh, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, said he is convinced that under the leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people will continue to make new and greater achievements and attain their goal of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.

Fidel Castro, first secretary of the Central Committee of Communist Party of Cuba, said in his message that Hu's reelection once again demonstrates approval for his leadership role in the CPC as well as his efforts to safeguard China's national sovereignty and promote the cause of socialism.

Castro reiterated his country's readiness to further deepen the relations with China.
