Proposals from China's political advisors have become an important means for authorities to know public needs and a key embodiment of the country's "socialist deliberative democracy", a senior official said on Wednesday.
The proposals have become better and more numerous, and they have also become increasingly valued by China's decision-makers over the past few years, said Wang Zhongyu, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Wang commented at Wednesday's CPPCC meeting, where political advisors were honored for 262 high-quality proposals they have made since 2003.
The proposals covered key contemporary issues, including the economic cycle, corporate innovation, agricultural taxes, education fees, farmers' land rights and food security.
