The China Democratic League (CDL), one of China's eight democratic parties, concluded its 10th national congress here on Sunday.
During the four-day meeting, the delegates deliberated a report of the party's 9th central committee which was delivered by CDL chairman Jiang Shusheng, according to a statement released after the congress.
The statement said the CDL had adopted the revised party constitution, but did not give any information on what changes had been made.
Delegates also elected CDL's new 265-member central committee "by secret ballot in an uncompetitive election", said the statement, adding that the average age of the members is 49.8.
The China Democratic League was secretly established on March 19, 1941 in Chongqing, and was then named the China Democratic Political League. In September 1944, the China Democratic Political League held a national congress in Chongqing and decided to rename itself the China Democratic League.
With a membership of more than 181,000, the CDL is mainly made up of senior and leading intellectuals in the fields of culture, education, and science and technology.
