"What I worry most is raining and I pray for good weather," Zhang Yimou, general director of the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies, said in Beijing on Wednesday.
He said some complex and high-tech performances at the opening ceremony will be cancelled if it rains, as "safety is above all".
About 10,000 people are taking part in the rehearsals for the opening ceremony in hopes of "giving a surprise to the world and satisfying all the Chinese people," said Zhang, also a member of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the top political advisory body.
