Lhasa prosecutors have so far issued arrest warrants for 29 people alleged to have been involved in this month's riots, said sources with local publicity department on Tuesday.

"The 29 are accused of endangering national security and committing severe criminal offenses in the riots on March 14," according to a circular from the department.

No further information was available from the People's Procuratorate of Lhasa City.

A list of 53 people wanted in connection with the riots has been published by the city's public security bureau. Four of them had turned themselves in to police and three had been arrested, said the circular.

The unrest has resulted in deaths of at least 18 civilians and one police officer, and 382 have been injured. Damage is estimated at more than 244 million yuan (34.4 million U.S. dollars).
