Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang stressed on Thursday China is dealing with the case of a foiled terrorist attempt on a passenger plane taking off from Urumqi on March 7 in accordance with law.

"China's relevant departments deal with related case according to law," said Qin, "I don't know why you raised this question...there are many cases of crimes in the world and many criminals were sentenced, would you also raise the same question on any one of these cases?" he said when responding to a journalist with AFP.

The journalist asked Qin if there was use of coercion or torture in the confession by a Uygur woman to a foiled attempt to blow up a China Southern Airlines flight that took off from Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on March 7, and asked for more details about the case.

Qin said the Ministry of Public Security has announced latest investigation results of the case, and further investigation is still under way.

The Ministry of Public Security issued a statement Thursday saying a 19-year-old female, Uygur ethnic, has confessed to her foiled terrorist attempt on the passenger plane, and the suspect, Guzalinur Turdi, and others involved in the case were apprehended by police.

"On March 7, Turdi boarded the plane with a camouflaged destructive device after deceiving airport security personnel. She went ahead with her terrorist sabotage activity but was foiled. She fully admitted her crime," the statement said.
