China's top legislator Wu Bangguo Monday noon is heading for the quake zones in southwestern Sichuan Province to direct the disaster relief work.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, will convey his condolence to people affected by the deadly earthquake, and visit rescue forces working there.

So far, all the nine members of the Standing Committee of the decision-making Political Bureau have visited quake-ravaged parts of the country or been involved in the quake relief work.
