The National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top advisory body, held a ceremony in Beijing on Wednesday to honor retired members.

Members to the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the 10th CPPCC were given medals to mark their five-year contribution to the body.

Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, attended the ceremony.

Wang Gang, Vice Chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, praised the work of the retirees and called for their continued support of the CPPCC.

The members had made important contributions to the construction of China's economy, politics, culture and society, he said.

Du Qinglin, head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the ceremony.
