The Chinese mainland on Wednesday sent 13 Taiwan people wanted in connection with fraud, theft and illegal entry, back to the island.
Taiwan police had issued warrants for six of the people, said an official with the Fujian provincial government.
"The hand-over is aimed to ensure public security on both sides of the Taiwan Strait," the official said.
The hand-over was done in Mazu between the Fujian Provincial Red Cross Society and the Taiwan Red Cross Society on Wednesday.
Details on the people were not revealed.
Hand-over protocols between the mainland and Taiwan are based on the Jinmen Agreement, signed in 1990 between the two Red Cross organizations.
In February, the mainland returned 25 people to Taiwan while Taiwan sent back Wang Zhihua, who allegedly hijacked a passenger plane to the island in 1993. Source:Xinhua
