China announced Friday rules for Hong Kong and Macao journalists' reporting activities on the mainland, extending temporary regulations for the 2008 Olympics that had allowed greater freedom for journalists from outside the mainland.

Reporters from Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions can travel to the mainland to interview anyone who consents, as long as the journalists hold press cards issued by the liaison offices of the Central Government or press cards for resident reporters, according to the regulation released by the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, the cabinet.
