Jiang Yikang was elected chairman of the Standing Committee of east China's Shandong Provincial People's Congress on Wednesday.
Jiang, 56, replaced Li Jianguo as secretary of the Shandong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in March 2008.
The election was held at the second session of the 11th provincial people's congress.
He served as vice president of the China National School of Administration from 2006 and 2008.
