CPC adopts officials' accountability regulation

China's top Party officials convened a meeting to adopt regulations on officials' accountability, the Party's inspection work and state-owned enterprise leaders' honesty.

Friday's meeting of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau was presided over by Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.

According to the meeting, strengthening the system against corruption, building a clean government and improving officials' conduct, inner-Party supervision and accountability system, were an important part of the Party's anti-corruption work.

"To implement the official's accountability system and stick to the equality of rights and responsibilities is conducive to improving the management of and supervision over leading official sand boosting the Party's ruling capability," the meeting heard.

Governments and party committees at all levels were asked to "strictly act in line with the CPC's regulation on officials' accountability."

The meeting also urged the Party's inspection agencies to perform their duties conscientiously and step up inspection on officials' implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies, the system of democratic centralism, anti-corruption work and officials' appointment and selection.

It said the regulation on state-owned enterprise leaders' honesty would help strengthen state-owned companies' fight against corruption, safeguard the interest of the nation and investors, promote scientific development of enterprises and ensure the legitimate rights and interest of workers.

"State-owned enterprises should implement the regulation in production and management, accelerate reforms and do more for a stable and relatively fast economic development," the meeting said.
