Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan called for developing the tourism industry and improving financial services to maintain an "uptrend" in the economy.
He made the remarks during a two-day visit to the northwestern Qinghai Province that ended Friday.
"We should look at the tourism industry from a strategic point of view and connect the industry with transforming economic structures and ensuring employment," he said.
"Western areas should take their unique advantages in natural, historic and cultural prospects and make the best out of tourism," he said.
During this trip, he also urged stimulating consumption, stabilizing export and improving financial service.
