Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong on Wednesday called for overseas Chinese to boost ties with the United States.
"We encourage overseas Chinese like you to develop people-to-people ties between China and the United States," Liu told Charles Wang, an eminent Chinese American in capacity of honorary chairman of Computer Associates International.
Liu appreciated Wang's efforts to boost China-U.S. cultural and educational exchanges as Wang served as chairman of New York-based Kylin TV, which was launched in 2005 and ran as the first and only IPTV service dedicated to the Chinese community living in North America.
Liu hailed Wang's philanthropic works like Smile Train, which so far had helped 170,000 Chinese children with cleft lips and palates.
She called for overseas Chinese to play a part in working for a long-term, steady growth of China-U.S. ties.
