A senior official with the Communist Party of China (CPC) has called for better law enforcement to ensure national security, social harmony and the country's sound economic growth.

Zhou Yongkang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks in an article to be published Tuesday in Qiushi, or Seeking Truth, the official magazine of the CPC Central Committee.

Zhou, also secretary of the Political and Legislative Affairs Committee of the CPC Central Committee, urged all law enforcement organs to tackle problems that might affect social harmony.

Enhanced efforts should be made to solve social conflict, promote social management innovation, and conduct just and clean law enforcement to ensure national security, social harmony, and steady and fast development of the country's economy, he said.
