Two lumberjacks of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) working in Russia's Far East on Tuesday asked for political asylum at a South Korean consulate, Russian news agencies reported.
The two workers climbed over a wall of the South Korean consulate in the city of Vladivostok and requested political asylum, unidentified diplomatic sources were quoted as saying.
The South Korean consulate has so far declined to comment on the report.
Several hundred of DPRK citizens are currently working in Vladivostok under contracts between Russia and the DPRK, Itar-Tass reported.
