A political advisor on Wednesday slashed empty talks among some government and Party officials, saying these officials care more about their own careers than the interests of the people.

"Stereotyped meetings and red tapes are full of cliches, nonsense, empty talks, political jargons, and lies," said Zhu Zhenzhong, chairman of the Guangzhou municipal committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Some officials only care about how to impress their superiors in implementing the central government's policies and their daily work, instead of being practical and realistic, said Zhu at the ongoing annual session of the CPPCC National Committee.

Such behaviors have "damaged the ties between the public and the government or the Party, undermined the government and the Party's image, corrupted the officials, and tarnished the standard conduct of the Party, the government and the society," he said.
